The Solar Exploration Center, located near the Shuishang Airport in Chiayi County, was first constructed in 1908 as the world's first large-scale symbolic building dedicated to the Tropic of Cancer. The monument was reconstructed in 1995, and the Solar Exploration Center was opened to the public on October 22, 2005 with significance for science, education, and tourism.
